Patience

May 12, 2011

Yes…I’m back with another post. Look at me go! Sometimes this happens and I just find my mind constantly running with ideas.

Some of my closest friends would not label me as a patient person. I’m not one of those instant gratification types, per say. I just don’t like waiting. I hate sitting in traffic. I’m not a fan of lines. This hatred of waiting also applies to my shopping ventures.

Sometimes, I will walk in to a store and see something I want and immediately buy it. Then as the time passes, I realize that I might not have wanted it as much as I thought (note: Buyer’s Remorse). Other times, I will see something I want, try it on and decide maybe I’ll wait until it is on sale. Sometimes it works out and sometimes it doesn’t. If it’s meant to be, it’s meant to be.

A few months back, I was at the Gap with Eric. He was looking for new pants and I was just there for morale support (and vetoing things). While waiting outside the dressing room, I saw this skirt.

Something about it just spoke to me. I’m sure it was the fact that it was somewhat metallic and I’m was like “ooo, shiny.” Oh yea…and it has pockets. I love pockets. But it was 60 bucks and I told myself, not worth it. But I kept thinking about it. Kept thinking of ways to wear it. About a week later, Gap had a 40 percent off coupon online and I was like “sweet, I can get the skirt,” but of course, it was sold out in my size.

Fast forward to last week, when I was just perusing the Gap website at work (something I find myself doing quite often) and I saw they had the skirt back in stock…and on sale for 40 bucks. It had been months so I was shocked they were still selling it, and I eagerly clicked to snatch it up. Yet again…not in my size. I was beginning to realize that maybe this wasn’t one of those meant to be items, but in a last ditch effort, surfed on over to eBay. I typed in the item and low and behold there it was…in my size…for 25 bucks…and with free shipping. It was like a light shining down upon me.

As I type this to you, I am wearing it now. It is perfect in every way and well worth the wait.

Has there ever been an item you wanted that you waited for?
