Sticking to it

October 25, 2011

I’ve talked a big game in the past about trying to delve in to my closet and find new ways to wear the stuff I have. This is for a variety of reasons. 1) I have way too many clothes. I go months and months without wearing the same thing again. I think that is a travesty. 2) I need to stop buying clothes. Yes, it is fun. But I need to put my money towards better things. Like my 401k…or maybe the wedding or something like that. 3)  I’ve been wanting to find new ways to wear the clothes I have instead of sticking to my old fall backs.

However, I will post something about the aforementioned plan and then a week later, share with you all the new clothes I just bought. For shame. But this time I’m really trying to stick to it. Y’all would be proud. I filled up my cart on yesterday, but closed out of the screen before completing the order. I’ll give myself a pat on the back for that one…

I usually start thinking about my outfit on my commute home, whether it be on the train or the bus portion. Last night while mentally going through my closet, I thought up the combination below. I was not sure how it would work out, but I am happy to report, I quite like it.

Top: Thrifted via Goodwill, Dress (as a skirt): No lie, I think it’s from WalMart,
Tights: We Love Colors, Shoes: Thrifted via Salvation Army, Necklace and watch: Both from Target.

I’ve been really in to jewel-tones as of late, and this emerald green top fits right in to that arena. This was one of my first thrifting finds, but this is the first time I’ve worn it over a dress as opposed to tucked in to a skirt (my default) or with pants. I was a bit worried about the proportions (blame the designer in me), but I think it works quite well. I wish my photo-taking set up was better still. My outfits always look better on my in person than they do via my Droid camera. Oh well, yet another first world problem.

Are you sticking to any fashion-related plans at the moment?
