Take me back to the beach

June 28, 2012

I cannot believe it had been two years since my last week-long vacation (including Christmastime and other holidays)! I am fortunate to be working for an organization that values vacation time and actually encourages employees to take their time off. So for my first long vacation in a while, Matt and I shipped off with another couple to Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, for our first-ever stay at an all-inclusive resort.

Seven days and 6 pounds later, I was more relaxed than I have been in a long time.

We stayed at the Punta Cana Princess All-Suites Resort, which is adults only. Before booking, we opted to go for the adult-only option, and after visiting one of the sister resorts, we were glad we did—the general noise level at our resort was much lower. It was mostly couples and small groups of 20-somethings (mainly from the U.S., Canada, and Germany) who were there for a legitimately relaxing vacation. We loved relaxing, but it would have been nice if there was a little more going on at the resort after 8 each night.

Overall, we had a wonderful time and only got dressed in anything other than a swimsuit and cover-up for dinner each night.

Sunday: Proenza Schouler for Target (dress), Target (sandals), Marshall’s (sunglasses)
Monday: Mine via Plato’s Closet (dress/belt), Target (sandals and flower hair clip)
Wednesday: Fire Los Angeles via Plato’s Closet (dress), Target (hat and sandals), Marshall’s (sunglasses)
Friday: Lapis via Ross (dress, also doubles as a maxi skirt)

Also, note the progression of the tan. Can I go back now, please?
