Marching into Fall

October 8, 2012

The week before last, I took a couple days off work to visit my parents in Charlotte. I had some fun, relaxing days there: an 8-mile run/walk, hot tubbing, shopping for pumpkin-flavored foods and beverages, and clothes shopping.

In terms of clothes, I really only had any luck at one store: Ross.

Dress: approx. $16
Cardigan: approx: $9
Boots: approx. $13

When I tried on this dress, I was afraid it might be a little too busy, but I really like it—especially with the cardigan. (Bonus: the cardigan somewhat reminds me of my old marching band uniform.)

Anyway, it made me feel better when I received three separate compliments in one day on this outfit. My favorite was from an elderly man in a wheelchair in the Kroger Starbucks line. He was wearing a bow-tie.

Although the dress doesn’t button all the way down, it somewhat satisfies by search for a button-up dress from my fall fashion wish list. I also found some cheap, yet decent (almost) flat cognac boots. There’s a slight wedge, but they feel flat when they’re on.

I also found red skinny jeans (as well as mustard yellow and black) at Old Navy. Now if I can just find a bomber jacket—rather than cognac, I now want oxblood.

Hi Melanie, nice post! Like the cardigan! Can you make an exception and make a post about men’s fall fashion. We’ve received some requests about that on our college life app! Thanks.
